CAIF Plan is a public program composed by the alliance of the State and Civil Organizations. It works under an agreement signed by INAU’s CAIF Plan and Centro Espigas. (INAU – Uruguayan Institute for Childhood and Youth). Its main objetive is to guarantee the protection and promotion of children’s rights from birth up to 3 years old, giving priority access to those coming from families in a context of poverty or social vulnerability.
PROPOSAL
CAIF Espigas has two programs according to the children’s age: Early Experience, aimed at children from 0 to 24 months, which promotes their full development and the strengthening of bonds with the adults in charge. And Initial Education, that takes daily care of 2 and 3 year-old children, based on the guidelines determined by CAIF Plan’s Curricular Guide.
Our Centre serves a population of 224 families (corresponding to CAIF Model 5). We have 112 children in the Early Experience program and 112 in the Inicial Education program.
In order to offer a more comprehensive attention, Fundación Retoño Uruguay provides funds for specialized staff: Music Workshop Teachers, Psicomotor Skills Professionals, Educators and Classroom Assistants.
GUIDELINES
- To include emotional education in the programs, so that children recognize and identify their emotions. To work on regulating these emotions according to age.
- To teach about environmental conscience by promoting specific actions, such as recycling and repurposing.
- To promote good upbringing habits in the families to ensure the children’s and their own welfare.
- To strenghthen the bonds within the team, in order to favor a more professional and cooperative work environment.
